Are you Unable to Come to the Clinic and Want a Telehealth/E-Visit Consultation?

Use the form below to schedule your appointment today.

Telehealth is emerging as a means to provide help to individuals who need healthcare, but for various reasons, are not able to leave their homes to receive care.
You may have pursued telehealth visits with your primary doctor or another specialist in the past and you may wonder how physical therapy can be provided via a telehealth visit.

At Britt Zink Physical Therapy Services, we have always focused our practice on empowering patients with exercise and education in their physical therapy treatments to empower patients to help themselves rather than relying on passive modalities that are often used in other physical therapy settings.

With this emphasis on exercise and patient education, your physical therapy treatment may readily be provided in a telehealth visit rather than coming to the clinic for your physical therapy treatment.

When considering if telehealth is the right avenue for you to pursue, you may have a few questions that we will address here:

What is Telehealth Physical Therapy?

Telehealth is a mode to deliver physical therapy to people in need of services through secure technology-smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera. Your physical therapist will take your history, perform an assessment of your condition, and will work with you to develop a treatment plan. Should your treatment plan necessitate the performance of exercises at home, your therapist will provide you written instructions of your exercise program for you to follow through with in between treatment session.

So, how do I participate in physical therapy telehealth?

  • First, you should fill out the Telehealth Information form on the bottom of this page.
  • Our clinic will then contact you to schedule your telehealth physical therapy session and once scheduled, you will receive a secure link to your appointment via email. At the time of your telehealth appointment, you will click on the secure link to begin your session!
  • The only items you need to participate in your telehealth session is a smartphone, a tablet or a computer with a camera.
  • We encourage you to be dressed in comfortable clothing that will allow you to participate in the positions and movements that your physical therapist asks of you during your telehealth visit.

How do I know if my condition can be effectively treated via telehealth versus a in-person clinic visit?

  • Physical therapy involves movement and this can effectively be assessed and treated in either setting.
  • Keeping your body moving is important regardless of your condition.
  • If your physical therapist feels you will be more effectively treated in an clinic setting, your therapist can provide you with exercises and techniques to try at home until you are able to come to the clinic for a in-person physical therapy treatment.

What are the benefits to Telehealth Physical Therapy?

  • Convenience: You can attend your physical therapy treatment in the privacy of your own home. You don't have to take time off from work. We can schedule your telehealth visit at a time that is convenient for you. You can save time by not having to travel to and from the clinic, saving on costs of transportation as well. If you are at home taking care of young children or elders, you are able to attend your telehealth session from home without worrying about finding someone to take care of their needs during your physical therapy appointment.
  • Being assessed and treated in your natural home environment: Our patient education focuses on techniques and strategies you can implement in your home environment and by seeing you "at home" we can very effectively work with you in your natural home setting. Sometimes the postures and positions we assume at home (such as with sleep, walking, standing, sitting in your favorite chair, etc) can contribute to your pain. By working through these positions and postures with you in your home environment, we can better get to the bottom of postures or positions that are contributing to your pain. An added bonus is assessing your workstation should you find that you are having new joint aches and pains if you find yourself working from home. We can complete an ergonomic assessment for you virtually!
  • Less exposure to illness: By participating in your physical therapy from the privacy of your home, you can minimize your risk of being exposed to illness outside of your home

Does my insurance cover Telehealth Physical Therapy?

Most insurance plans are now covering Physical Therapy delivered via Telehealth. Many insurance companies are now waving the co-pay fee for Telehealth Physical Therapy and the majority of insurance plans are covering telehealth physical therapy as if you were being seen in a clinic. If you don't have insurance coverage currently, we also accept cash-pay as an option if you do not have insurance coverage. For your convenience, we also offer Care Credit for those that need this option for their therapy services.

Is telehealth private and secure?

Most definitely! We utilize software and technology that is private and HIPAA compliant. You are in the privacy of your own home and can schedule at a time that is convenient for you.
